Space junk is a big problem because if we sent up rockets or space shuttles, they could be damaged or ruined and the people inside of them could be hurt or killed. Another problem with space junk is it could get pulled into our atmosphere and if it was big enough not to burn away while falling in it could do serious damage.
NASA tracks every piece of debris so they know when they can't send anything up and the course they need to take to avoid a collision. There have been ideas to solve the problem but no action has been taken. A possible idea is to destroy things using lasers.

Zoos-Good... or EEEEVIIILL??
Are zoos good or bad? They keep many extinct animals and they are having more, but they also keep animals away from the wild. Most zoos try and make the place they keep the animals as close to their natural habitat as possible. Some zoos even keep them in little confinements that have concrete floors and metal bars around them, that isn't very good for the animal.
Zoos also keep endangered animals alive, so that makes zoos good. Like i said before most zoos try to keep the habitats as close to home as possible for the animals so they are happy, and a lot of the animals were born there so they are used to it. If an animal goes extinct in the wild or is overly hunted it wouldnt be a problem because they still exist in zoos. There have been cases where people train the animals to fend for themselves in order to live in the wild and release them when they are ready. Some die, and its not the same as if they were born in the wild but it still keeps animals alive and existing.

Oil In Antarctica
Recently oil drillers have found oil reserves in Antarctica. No one owns Antarctica, and we have signed a treaty never to mess with it, but that treaty expires soon so people are afraid of a war.
In my opinion I think there shouldn't be war, The countries could split it up, or not mess with it at all. If we were to split it then there could also be problems if someones part had more oil than another. So we should jut leave it alone and not mes with it.

Bird Flu
As the bird flu spreads from China to Taiwan, people are worried it may spread farther into a pandemic. Taiwan reported an incident where a man that often travels to China for work has contracted the virus. Test revealed that he was infected with the H7N9 bird flu virus.
The patient in Taiwan said he was never exposed or around birds or eaten any uncooked poultry. Things like this have puzzled scientists and led some to suspect that an animal other than birds is spreading the virus to humans, but no other animal was found to be infected.

Siberian Mammoth Tusks
Karl Gorokhov was mammoth tusk hunting in Siberia, when he was walking and tripped on the tip of a tusk sitting out of the ground. It took him about 24 hours to dig up the tusk, it was 150 pounds and in near perfect condition, if he gets it home can can get more than $60,000. As a kid he remembers seeing rotting tusks on the river bank, but people believed it was bad luck to disturb them, thinking they came from giant mole creatures underground.
The tusks are worth the risk. Although others have rushed in to score on tusks Karl is always ahead of them. As the permafrost starts to thaw mammoth tusks start to kind of stick out and he can get them.

Laundry Fluff- Polluting Oceans EVERYWHERE! (dun dun dun)
Since 1940 shed of synthetic microscopic plastic fibers make their way through sewage treatment systems and into oceans. This synthetic lint makes its way through sewage treatment systems and into oceans all around the world., with the potential to harm marine life. No beach is free of colorful synthetic lint, the most contaminated samples came from areas with the most human population, suggesting the people were the source of the lint.
Your clothes may seem all innocent and harmless but really, that sweater you are wearing is DEADLY... to ocean animals that is.Filter feeding mussels will consume these little particles and and they will then enter the bloodstream. If all fish take these in they will eventually end up in us, from eating the fish.

Graveyards
Graveyards are a good thing now but what about in the future? In about sixty to seventy years they wont be so attractive, they will be falling apart and in ruins. Even if the caretakers tend to them, over the years the grave stones and memorials will just fall apart.
Cremation is the best way to go for more than one reason. Cremation saves a lot of space and the families can keep their loved ones with them. If the family were to move, they aren't going to move the bodies with them, but if they are cremated then they can. Plus, graveyards creep a lot of people out!!

Building the Pipeline (dun dun dun)
We originally signed a treaty with Mexico to give them one third the water in the Colorado river. We are now breaking that treaty. Mexico is getting far less than the amount promised to them. Once the river actually reaches Mexico its about 8 feet wide. A pipeline is wanted to help get more water into Mexico.
The pipe would run between Denver and Leavenworth. Most people think the idea of running a pipeline to save water is a good idea but a lot of people dont. BUt we agreed with Mexico to give them water and we aren't, but we should be.

Water Wars
Every minute 7 people die from bad water, or no water. Some countries have more people than they do water, some are the opposite South America being one of them. The Guarani aquifer in South America could provide 100 liters of water a day to 5.5 billion people for 200. Asia has 60% of the world population and only 36% of the worlds water, SOuth America has 6% of the worlds population and 26% of the worlds water. Some of the places with the worst water are, Belgium, and Morocco.
Over 1.3 billion people have no access to clean water. At least 2.2 million people die annually from diseases related to poor sanitation and contaminated drinking water. The United Nations estimate the world's per capita water supply will drop by 1/3in the next 20 years. The countries with the best water are Finland, Canada, New Zealand, UK, and Japan.
In areas with rapildly growing populationsthe water may be running low because there are so many people taking it. It becomes a problem when you have more people than you do water. It has become obvious that larger populated areas dont have enough water and lower populated areas have more than enough water.
There have been more than 1,831 water related interactions between countries in the past 50 years. only 21 actually involved military violence. There are very few places where water-poor countries can attacke water-rich countries. Water sortages will most likely resort in violence.

Not enough physicians
In the U.S. the amount of physicians is decreasing but the demand for them is increasing. The population is growing and people are living longer, but if they get sick or injured there might not be enough doctors in the hospital to take care of them. People aren't going to want to go to hospitals if they aren't going to be cared for very well, and if they are in critical condition and don't get taken care of they could die.
The nurses and doctors usually have few that they are personally taking care of at one time and could get tired or overwhelmed from having too many people and running around to all of them. In our society people like to sue doctors if they don't get what they want and because of that college students don't want to become doctors and get sued.

Horse Meat
I think it shouldn't be legal to mix horse meat in with with regular hamburger, simply because a lot of people wouldn't eat it. Some people don't like the idea of eating horse meat even though they wouldn't be able to tell if they didn't know.
Eating horse is like eating a dog, or a cat, people in America just don't do that, we find it wrong, and consider it cruel. It's even worse if people are eating it without knowing.

China Air Pollution
The biggest health issue in China is the extreme air pollution. it has gotten so bad that it is beyond U.S. air quality measurements, the air quality has been hovering around 490 for the past two weeks. The children and elderly are kept indoors and the healthy people are recommended to not do any exercise.
The city is moving to make rules to scrap old cars, ban new factories, and to fine roadside vendors who are barbecuing on a smoggy day.

South African Water Pollution
South Africa is having water pollution problems and is causing people to be sick. The sewers are leaking into the drinking water. In some of the towns they don't even having water cleaning systems so they are using dirty water from underground.
The underground water is going through hard rock that lets a lot of diseases into the water. Some prime aquifers have low yielding rock foundation.2.6bn people have no access to sanitation, which can cause serious disease outbreaks. This is a major incident from such a small town.

The Flu
The Flu causes people to have sever joint and muscle pain and high fever. When you have the flu you feel miserable and need to stay home, it is contagious so don't hang around your friends and share germs. this year has been one of the worst and it is spreading faster than it has in a long time. The flu season peaks in November and continues throughout April.
You will have less chance of catching the flu if you get a flu shot. The flu comes fast and strong and appears most in fall and winter seasons.my opinion about the flu is, don't get it, it's horrible.
